That you store everything edible inside your refrigerator. Pasta, flour, sugar and even coffee. The humidity can destroy anything and often, little creatures appear overnight from nowhere in any package. Keep a basket of clothes pegs on hand to fold and neatly seal packages for easy opening. That you unplug any electrical appliances (televisions, computers, cordless phones, air conditioners, microwaves) during Vallarta's electrical storms. With one bolt of lightening, you can wipe out a whole household of appliances. So, when it starts to thunder, don't start to wonder, just unplug (don't forget the telephone line to your modem and your cablevision connection. |

That if you happen to have a garden or a patio with sun, have some fun with the plants in our tropical surroundings. Rainy season is a great time to do some plant relocating (find plants that grow on the side of the road or river, and relocate them to your home!) This is much more rewarding than buying a full grown version. |

That if you have a dog and dread bath time at home, take him to the Rio Cuale river. The river water minerals will take the odor out of almost any dog (well, except for my sister's cocker spaniel) |
